OKLAHOMA NATIONAL GUARD AUXILIARY, INC.

DISSOLUTION PROPOSAL

Oklahoma National Guard Auxiliary (ONGA) membership has been on a decline for several years.  Membership involvement is a never-ending struggle and board vacancies resulted in the recruitment of past officers to be able to fill current Executive Board positions.

When the ONGA was first organized, it was ONLY THE FAMILY PROGAM on the scene.  When the first federally funded family program was enacted in Oklahoma, the ONGA re-organized and re-vamped its mission to the legislative arena.  For the last several years, we have directed our efforts towards legislative issues of which affected National Guard staffing, pay, entitlements, equipment and installations as well as Guard member and family benefits.  We feel like we were successful and actually made a difference.  However, letter-writing campaigns as we once knew them have been replaced by technology and legislative involvement has become as simple as just a few clicks on a computer.

Considering the ongoing struggle of ONGA membership recruitment, membership involvement, and fund raising projects it is time for the current ONGA Membership to consider dissolution and focus their future volunteer efforts towards Family Programs and the National Guard Association of Oklahoma.

It is the ONGA Executive Board’s recommendation to vote to proceed with dissolution of the Oklahoma National Guard Auxiliary, Inc in accordance with the By-Laws.

Respectfully Submitted,

Joe’L Farrar, 2nd Vice President
